June 24th (07):

The benefit for Denver Public School's music program and tribute to Bob Dylan's 66th birthday was awesome.  Dylan66 will hit the road on Thursday starting in Silverthorne, then Steamboat, Vail, Leadville, Paonia, Denver, Crested Butte, Telluride and finally Idaho Springs for Lee Fest.  The show in Denver will be with Shakedown Street at Cervante's Masterpiece Ballroom celebrating the 20 year anniversary of Dylan and the Dead.  It has been rumored that possibly other members from Left Over Salmon (besides Bill McKay) may be hitting a show or two!

March 4th (07):

THE 20 YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF SHAKEDOWN STREET

WITH VERY VERY SPECIAL GUEST FROM THE JERRY GARCIA BAND

WILL CONTINUE TO ROLL ACCROSS THE COLORADO ROCKY MOUTAINS

The first leg of the tour was no doubt a success.  The group started out in the new and improved historic Oriental Theater in Denver with Melvin playing his finest and wearing his old familiar bright white smile!  The band and Melvin seemed to mold like they had known each other for eternity.  From there they moved on up the hill to the Silverthorne Pavilion where over 400 dead heads danced their shoes off to many JGB tunes along with a funky Shakedown Street in honor of the band's 20 years.

Friday brought them further up the hill to Vail where Melvin sang  'That's What Love Will Make You Do'.  That and the fresh powder that dumped down as they played made a lot of happy skiers.  They rolled on up the mountain even further to Panonia

where the grass is greener and played the beautiful Paradise Theater for Shakedown's first time.

This town full of deadheads knows good music when they hear it!!

The second leg of the tour will kick of March 14th at Calypso in Crested Butte and roll through

Breckenridge, Telluride, Ft Collins and then back to Denver.

LOOKING BACK ON 20 YEARS OF SHAKEDOWN STREET

by Ted Galloway

Folks started telling me as far back as 14 or 15 years ago that the essence of Shakedown

Street was it's survivability.  Last year to commemorate the reality of that notion, I got a tattoo

of our ram head logo on my arm.  I've never had a tattoo before.  I've been in Shakedown

Street almost half my life, and so it seemed like the right thing to do,

and i'll always be proud to have it.

I've seen young children dance with their parents at our shows, and now they are in

their 20's and 30's and still dancing to us.  I've seen kids who were in their 20's and 30's

that now are in their 40's and 50's and sporting gray hair out there dancing with their

children at our shows.  Some folks who enjoyed our shows regularly have passed away.

Shakedown Street has always been a fun place to be, no denying that.  The last couple of

nights, i've been looking at pictures taken over the years at our shows, and in each and every

photo, every single soul in the picture has a shit eatin' grin goin' on.  Every picture.

Shakedown Street, to me anyhow, just keeps getting better and better.  We had some low

years, but you don't go for 20 years without  having a couple of low spots in there along the

way. Nobody in the early days ever said, "we'll be around for 20 years", but after 20 years

I can easily say that I'll probably do this until I die or my fingers quit working.  It makes too

many people very happy, including ourselves, and makes all our lives better.  It is a positive,

wonderful and loving social arena.

How did we make it so long?  Simply stated, we have always genuinely loved one another,

nobody keeps score and nobody tells anybody else what and what not to do.  We're not

judgemental, we know that we're all screwups in one way or another.  We're all very interesting

people and never bore one another. We all love to party.  Those band guys that have left over

the years are still our bro's and sit in now and again when they can.

I've been a deadhead since the early seventies, but I've always favored the Jerry Garcia Band

because I have a deep love for Gospel, Soul, and Motown music, and I love the sound of a

Hammond B-3 organ.  Having Melvin Seals accompany us for the 20th anniversary shows

is literally a dream come true for me.  These shows coming up will probably be the most

treasured moments in my life.  I can't wait to see everybody there.

Viva Shakedown Street!

"The day I die I'm gonna feel like a river that never got to the sea,

and I'll know that Shakedown Street was the only thing ever built to last for me".........

I love you all,

Ted Galloway

April 1st:

Wow, a lot has happened in the past month.  DSO coming to town with eight shows made history's page, and it is thusly carved in stone.  Rob Eaton played with TRMGD revue in Vail before DSO came, and it was a great kick off party.  We will post some MP3's of the show here very shortly.

Word has it, Shakedown Street is getting busy and the new band plays ever so good.  They packed The Aggie last weekend and the band will be back to do it again sometime in June.  State Bridge has been confirmed which will mark Shakedowns tenth year playing there on Memorial weekend.  They are even playing out of state a few times this summer, headin' west into Moab for the Desert Rocks Music Festival, and for Jerry's 11 year passing they will be up north in Wyoming to play a few shows.  The Shakedown Street show at the Boulder Theater will light the songs with sense and color with the best Phish tribute band in the nation, PHIX!!!

January 12th:

Well they said they were going to do it, and they did it.  Shakedown Street packed the house at Hermans last Friday with Jim Allard not only stepping in on bass, but singing the opening song 'The Music Never Stopped".  One that Shakedown Street has never played in their almost 19 year history, and they nailed it!!!  Second set opener came a big phat Help -> Slip -> Franklin's with Smokey Joe singing the lead to Help and Ted Galloway singing the lead to Franklin's.

A little background on Jim Allard:  He started playing in Dead bands 25 years ago with 'Jakes Leg'.  This band is still playing strong today in St Louis, MO.  Jim not only plays and sings just like Phil Lesh, but he looks just like him too.  Some may recognize him from bands such as One Kind Favor, Dead Zone or The Rocky Mountain Grateful Dead Revue.

Shakedown Street is back, and stronger then ever!!  Make sure you check them out on one of their 19th anniversery shows.  Guaranteed to knock your socks off, and they will have some new t-shirts and stickers for the celebration!!!

December 18th:

November 11th:

Halloween Weekend with the RMGDR proved to be a true 80's experience!!!  It was said that smoke came puffin' off of Ted Galloway's hands during the transition from China Cat to Rider.  Stay tuned for more details on New Years Eve.  If anyone is interested in buying tickets in advance please email ticketsales@denverdead.com

October 12th:

Halloween weekend with the Rocky Mountain Grateful Dead Revue will take place at Dulcinea's 100th Monkey Friday and Saturday, then moving the show next door to Sancho's Broken Arrow, Monday for Halloween night.

But wait, what about Sunday night??  Make your way down to Colorado Springs and check out Shakedown Street at George's Union Station.  This band has been together for over 18 years and have recently made a big come back.  Ted Galloway (one of the founding members) is ON FIRE!!!!!

September 28th:

The Rocky Mountain Grateful Dead Reveue got together Friday September 19th at Quixote's and played a show to a packed bar of DeadHeads.  The group consisted of Ted Galloway from Shakedown Street on lead guitar, Joe Weisiger on hammond and piano, Jake Wolf on drums, Paul Trunko on guitar and Stork from Purple Buddah on bass.

The group says this is not a band, but a 'concept'.  The lineup may change from time to time and they really have no long-term goal, except to keep playing music.  They plan to take the stage at Sancho's Broken Arrow on Monday October 3rd with the same linup except for Jim Allard on Bass.
